  • New Fatmax Extreme Tapes

Is anyone using the new silver Extreme tapes yet? I saw one today for the first time and I can't find any discernable difference between it and my old yellow one.

The package claims a 13' standout (as opposed to 11') for the standard Fat Max.

    Re: New Fatmax Extreme Tapes

    Greg,

I have been using the craftsman tapes. except recently I bought a new one and they are now red instead of yellow... why.... because they have changed the lifetime guarantee to a limited one. but still are very good tapes.

I have tried fatmax tapes but they are to big for my hands and toolbelt holder......

I thought fatmax was your new helpers name! he stands out for more than 13'

I don't know about the new tapes but the FatMax chaulkline sucks IMO because the thing is twice the size as a regular one and takes up way too much space in my tool pouch.

I'm going to buy one and try it out. That extra couple of feet would have come in handy this last week on the roof.

Sounds like this tape has a higher dose of viagra? :-) Oh yeah, someone didn't like that ad in JLC. hehehe

are you sure that you're referring to the one that just came out?

I have only seen these in 25'. if they had a 35' I would wive it a shot. I don't think these will last too long though. I was playing with one at the store and the way they got the 13' stand out was to curl the blade more. when you extend it too far and it drops (the blade) i think this will weaken it. just my opinion though haven't tried it.

You have a tape that can extend 13'??

I have the FatMax and I think its great. I haven't seen another tape measure extend as far as the FatMax.

ARK, if you're talking about the old yellow & black plastic Fat Max chalkline, I agree, too. I never could get one that didn't jam up the first time.

The new Irwin chalkline is OK, but the line is so stretchy and it leaves an 1/8" to 1/4" line, no good for snapping out slabs.

I'm interested to try this "new" Fat Max chalkline, after I break all the other dozen boxes I have laying around, LOL.

I have the regular 35' FatMax and the 100' with a 3 to 1 rewind ratio. Both are all I need. The difference between an 11' and 13' standout is not enough for me to spend the money on a new tape.
