  • Best Rousseau Table Saw Setup?

I bought a Rousseau Table saw stand so I can drop a Dewalt 745 in it.Haven't received it yet.

How well do the Rousseau outfeed, extension and router table extension work?

I haven't picked these up yet.I'd like to have a decent work station.

I have that set-up - minus the router tabel extension (I think Kreg M has that piece, too). It works great, worth every penny, I use it as both a table saw stand and work bench even when I'm not using the saw.

On mine, after sitting the 745 into the stand, the 745 table top was a bit above the Rousseau table. As the fence slid across it would 'clank' over the edge of the table saw. Annoying, but not a show stopper and as I've used it more it's settled in to where the 'clank' is mostly gone. I could've spent 10 minutes and adjusted the saw holding tabs, but never did.

It's the best portable system I've run across. I've had mine for 14 years. I haven't installed a router, but I should. No problems.

      Just get one.

I have the rousseau setup for my tablesaw,I also have the outfeed table
and router extension. I love the tablesaw setup, but I am not happy with
        the router extension.

Anybody know the difference between the side extension and router extension? It appears that they are the same dimension and mount the same, the difference that one accomodates a router and one doesn't.

But if the router extension is a useless POS,I'll save the $35 and get the plain old side extension.

A buddy of mine has the regular side extension. He bored the holes to mount his router and it works just fine.

I've been wanting the rousseau stand myself. but i have the dewalt 745 which has the same fence as the little one. but my problem is i dont want to have to take the fence apart to use it in the stand. what do you guys with the dewalts do about this. I'd love to have the flexability to use with or without the stand. and no buying the makita is not in the buget. but I wish it was

opps I ment 744 . but the fences are pretty much the same. and I just dont get whether i'd have to take the rake and pinion rails off or just pop off the fence. if its just a matter of popin off the fence then i will definitly get that stand.

I have a makita saw and just upgraded to the Rousseau stand that comes with pneumatic wheels. It's sweet and easy to wheel in from the van and up the stairs.

It's pretty easy to make your own outfeed table with a piece of plywood, an adjustable roller stand, and some cleats.

couchcarp - the 745 fence pops off with just the flick of a lever. The rack and pinion assembly stays attached to the saw. I keep the original fence in the van just in case I need 1-2 cuts and don't want to set the Rousseau up.

I've got the Bosch 4000 and it's exactly the same for me. And, like Norm, I keep the Bosch fence in the truck for a coupla three cuts, but 98% of the time, I just set up the Rousseau. It's real handy.

vtnorm i got the stand today have not had time to mess with it yet. but I couldnt resist opening it up and try to drop the dewalt in, no go the rack and pinion rails sit on the cross bars. I quess i'll call rousseau tomorrow. also i'm looking at the directions theres no mention of the fence rails but they do suggest cutting the plastic base off. mmmmno.

Couch - my 745 drops right in; no modifications, no issues.

You have the 744, right? The Rousseau site says the 2500 MobileMax & the 2775 Portamax will take that saw - which stand did you buy?

this must be the difference i got the 2700xl it says on the website it takes both the makita and the dewalt 744. I got this one cause i figure when the dewalt dies i was gonna get the makita. my dewalt is from 2002 and i get the feeling thats about the life expectancy.

oh by the way i read the directions it does say to take the rack and pinion completly off. so i guess making a quick rip is gonna be a hassle

I think you goofed. The Rousseau fit guide shows the 744 as "N/A" (Not Applicable) for the 2700XL stand.

I like the rack & pinion too much to take it off. For those 1-2 cuts its a joy to use.
