  • HRV preferences

I'm wondering if anyone has opinion on HRV brands. We have used ultimate air (actually ERV) and Lifebreath. We are courting the idea of Zender but have had bad experiences with imported high performance products, mostly on service. We will be building a passive house and the HRV is central to the building technology. Any north american brands that can fit this role that you care to recommend?

    Thanks,
    Brent

    Re: HRV preferences

    Hey Brent --

Sorry, no answer for you, but here's a question. I'm interested to know what your experience with the Lifebreath was/is. Why aren't you interested in using it on your current project? I'm 99% sure that I'm going to be installing a Lifebreath on my current project (which will not be a PH, but a PGH [Pretty Good House - see greenbuildingadvisor.com for details if you haven't heard of this non-technical term!]) and would be interested in hearing about your experience with the Lifebreath.

Sorry to not have an answer for you question.

It's a great read regarding the PGH concept. Dan (DancingDan)Kolbert posts here at JLC occasionally.

No experience with a HRV, but we're pretty happy with the Renewair ERV we used on a project recently. Our only complaint so far (6 months) is the controller on the wall in the living space.

It failed a few times for some reason but didn't cost anything.

            Check out American Aldes

They are out of Florida and have been around for a long time.

I do have a builder that wants to use the Zender system on a subdivision with the first house just started this week.
