Should I major in accounting or finance?

Now I have done a bit of research, and know that accounting looks slightly better on your resume. I heard this is because accounting is more of a necessity on a day to day basis. However finance is very attractive to me because you become proficient in investing. Also it seems more reliant on creativity, which I excel in. In regards to salary, from what I've seen accounting is lower pay with more job opportunities, while finance is higher pay with less job opportunities. What insight do you guys have on this?

In my opinion, accounting and finance both deals with managing money, but they are used for two very different purposes. Simply,accounting deals more with what happened in the past, whereas finance is about making good predictions for the future. And as I think you should go with finance because having a job in finance gives you an opportunity to grow always keeping you on your toes.

How about major in accounting and minor in finance. It's worked well for me. Spent time working for the government as an IRS wonk, then in banking in Chicago... then finally to my one and only true passion, building. Circuitous route but worked for me. Through all the other jobs I always worked on the weekends or nights for other builders just to keep me sane. ????
