Default Warranty Provisions

Does anybody have a good warranty provision they could share. My contract isnt real specific and I feel it should be better described as a seperate document in my contract.(basically it needs to be more descriptive to benefit both my customers and me from potential problem areas) I'm looking for good ideas for the language of the document, not to cut and paste. I currently offer a 2 year workmanship warranty.
Thanks,
Travis

Travis,

I am in the process of rewording mine after a recent customer called me every time he got lonely . I would make sure you include provisions to charge them for wasted trips. This guy called me because a breaker my electricain installed tripped, I talked him through restting it and he swore up and down it would not reset. When I arrived I reset it proceded to plug in every tool I had on the truck and was unable to get it to trip. I wish I had a way to hit him with a $75 service call.

Also include some language to seperate a legit warrany claim from a BS nit picking I want to call and break your balls. Same guy called to say there was a foot print (probably his when the floor was not quite dry enough ) in the new oak floor we installed. I get there to look and was unable to see it where he was pointing. He needed to get his 500 watt halogen that he had handy to show me the foot print.

I am going to discuss some specific wording with my lawyer and I will post it after. I would make sure to reference specific standards of wormans ship so when you and a customer have a disagreement about the way something should look, you don't have to warranty wood grain not matching

Lou

I use Residential Construction Performance Guidelines by the NAHB and reference it in my contract.

I am sure there are ones better than this but this worked fine for us for many years before I sold my company. Feel free to use any or all of it. I would be pleased to see your final copy after you finish it.

Good Luck.

Rick
I was just talking to a lawyer last night about this. I would be very interested in looking at your contract.
I don't see it attached. Could you try posting it again.

Thanks very much
Bryan

Thanks for the post Rick, I will post my final document when it's done in this thread, just a question of time, hopefully within the week.
Thanks to all replies so far, hope everyone is staying busy.
