Re: Home Depot Deals
Good deals there. After Thanksgiving they'll have a lot of very good deals too. The best deals each year are right after T Day.

That's what I'm waiting for. All my cordless stuff needs batteries so I'll be looking for the Makita deals. I wonder if they will have any "screaming deals" on the new three speed, brushless impack driver?

Re: Home Depot Deals
I've been sitting on my butt wanting the Milwaukee for quite a while and never having the balls to spend the money when there are sales. Also afraid of my wife.
Might actually do it this time.

Good luck with the wife. I had to sneak in the house a Ridgid Cast Iron table saw . Try unloading that by yourself without somebody knowing. Then I had to assemble it and discard the packaging.

Re: Home Depot Deals
Jeez, is that the Tablesaw with the granite top? Granite or cast iron, sure is heavy. How do you like the TS? Read some reviews and get's rated pretty well. Their shop stuff seems very reasonable. Some day. When the kids are older and wife isn't so watchful! I'm in the same boat. "Is that tool new Michael," she says. I say, "What tool... had it for ten years, but I just cleaned it up and oiled it..." Problem is, she's smarter than me and knows better, but I keep trying!

Yes, it's the cast iron one. It's awesome although I haven't used it much. I couldn't pass it up since it was on clearance and the reviews were so good. And yes, I used the same excuse, "just cleaned up the old saw and added an old accessory kit." And changed the color from black to orange ;-)

Re: Home Depot Deals
I also saw the other day that the Milwaukee saw was marked down to $499. It looks like this time it's a permanent markdown. i.e. "New Lower Price" Throw in a free stand, and that's a great deal! Unfortunatly, I already have the saw.

Re: Home Depot Deals
I love it! Nice and smooth. I like lights better than the lasers some manufacturers use. The micro adjust and digital miter scale makes fine tuning a cut easy. I swapped the blade for a Tenryu, which makes for nearly splinter free cuts. I never have any problems with deflection from the rails. It just seems like a solid tool. Oh, and the dust collection is WAY better than any other saw I have used, though I haven't used the Kapex. Just using the dust bag collects 75% or more of the dust. I get a little better performance when I zip tie a vac hose inside the bag, but I don't really bother that much. I wish it had a standard dust collection fitting, which I had heard would become available. Haven't seen it yet!
Overall I think it's the best thing going for under $1,300. It was dead on out of the box. The Makita also looks nice, but when I played with it in the store, it didn't slide very well. The transition between the two sets of rails wasn't too smooth. I have heard the same from others as well. Some people might say that since it sits in a store, it gets a lot of abuse. Maybe, but I can't imagine it being any worse than sitting on a job site or rolling around in the back of a truck.
I don't think you will be disappointed.

Re: Home Depot Deals
I think I'm almost there.
Just wish I could get my hands on a 10% off coupon.
Maybe I'm pushing it a bit.

Go to your local post office and pick up one of those little evelopes for moving info, inside they have a lowes 10% off coupon and HD should accept that. I had no problem with them accepting one a few weeks ago.

Re: Home Depot Deals
Did it! Opened a CC account with them, 10% off the first purchase.
$450 plus tax.
Now I need to make space in the basement to get it out of the van.
Whew!
