Default prices are increasing

My supplier called me yesterday to give me a heads up..The price of sheetrock is increasing by 20% as of August 30th. So far that's a 40% increase in a 6 month time frame. Worse than gasoline. Meanwhile, great framers and rockers I know are selling their homes because they can't pay the mortgage. They can't find work. I'm competing against outfits with guys that don't even speak english. They get paid 120 or 130 per day. These illegal guys are never out of work, at least the ones i know. they get laid off one day and boom, they're on another job painting or landscaping or whatever. No more respect for the trades. Whatever..
and by the way, our taxes are about to increase substantially. Thank You democrats.

and our taxes are to increase substantially........... its the same the world over

dont thank any political party, just remember you are paying the bankers bonuses

............... the same guys who caused the global banking crisis and the recession

the bankers bonuses are now increasing substantially

why? because they are SUPPOSEDLY bringing us out of recession

bankers cant loose

they cause a worldwide recession and the world wide tax payers bail them out

we pay more taxes

they start to make a profit again........... and they take the profit

and the tax payer continues to pay for the original bankers losses

d-rock we went up on March 15th. & May 15th. Rock 40%, mud 40%, most other supplies 20-40%. & My bastard suppliers stocked me with Pro-Roc! on a Habitat house, I called them right away & said "wtf? you stop @ Menards on your way to the job site to pick that CRAP up?" he said "did you want Nat.Gyp?" WELL DUH! We are just doin basically HO work now, I told my commercial account that I didnt want to bid on commercial anymore & the housing is slow.

& who the hel! said that 0.75 (complete) was going rate in NYC? Thats bullsh!t! I try to get a buck here & loose out sometimes to a couple of hundred dollars difference. I make 0.15 less per sq.ft. now than I did 10 yrs. ago. It sux! Peace, muddy

I noticed materials are up, $1 on a bucket or bag. But since I don't supply because no one wants to pay me a % for the hassle I don't bother. In the last 18months just about every job is a home owner who hangs their own drywall and just wants me to tape and sand. Honestly there is less crap to deal with doing these type of jobs than including the hanging.

Thank all your fellow contractors who hired them and created a demand for cheap labor. We are (not me personally but as a whole) our worst enemy.
