Dennis:
Better start selling then, the ICC is initiating a push to bring California framing nationwide to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the New Madrid earthquake in 2011

Time to buy stock in Simpson, they have come out with a system wherein carpenters can install the steel, if you can get your sturctural engineer to spec it.

Unreal.
Great work and great write-up. I'll just keep shaking my head for a little while longer and then it'll be ok.

Ultra Sonic test on the steel moment frame welding? Delayed project for three months? This is a house not a nuclear reactor for godsakes.

Randy:
I'm going a compete steel frame in the one I'm working on, it's cheaper than wood with all they are making us do, you should start getting it in a few years so keep watching California as the ICC spreads it nationwide.

Dick,
From what I've been reading some or many of the mega mansions built 100 years ago were steel frame with poured concrete floors on all levels just like a commercial building at the time.

Considering this is a drywall forum, I don't see the relevance framing in CA has to do with drywall...
