    Default Sub zero panel bit?

Is there a router bit I can get to cut a groove into an overlay door panel as opposed to attaching backer panels for a sub zero fridge panel?

    Panel detail below

Darrel, I don't think it will work. I have to build a panel for a Kitchen aid that is very similar to your detail. Typically the backer panel is a different size(smaller)than the actual door panel. You can skip that thin spacer panel and just cut a rabbit on the edge of the door panel.

    kent,
    It should work. It's basically a 1/8" dado 15/32" deep and then a 1/4" rabbet 5/32" deep.
I've done about a dozen of these. The only issue I see would be it wouldn't work on a door with a decent sized outside profile. I'd be limited to an eased edge so I have enough meat to work with on the edge.
Other than that I love getting the call for these. My mark up is nice.

what about a 7/64" slot cutter, followed but a rabbeting bit?

I think the other issue is the ply backing panel adds strength to the assembly.

With any backer panel, you might have to worry about weight. I remember having to route out the backsides on two door panels because the Sub Zero folks were saying the panels were too heavy. We were actually using a scale. Did not make much sense, when a coup,e of gallons of milk on the door is 16+ pounds.
