Default Nailing Additional Attic Floor ?

I'm into an upfit of a walk in closet. Needed to alter a 24" x 60" access panel to the typical knee wall area.

Lo and behold there is about 400 sq ft of addl rough space that is quite usable. The Mrs. is freaking and wants to do it. I think it will be a go.

2 x10 joists, popcorn ceiling below, its a custom about 15 yrs old.

Nailing the sub floor and some edge ledgers ? I dare not use my pneu nailer on the sub flooring. I could on some ledger / blocking to the joists.

What's your suggestions to attach the sub floor ? I'm thinking screws. What would be your approach ? I really want to have no trouble with finishes below.

    Thanks Mark....

I've got to add this. There is blown in FG now between the 2x10 FJ. What's the thinking or experience in leaving it...or must be taken up, install new 9" with vapor barrier ?

Its a 12 pitch attic with a couple of knee walls that support the rafters mid span. Its an area about 20' long x 15' wide within the knee walls. Some rafter ties I'll duplicate to support DW. Above the rafter tie area is a large gable vent.

I would add FG insul in the walls and 6" in the ceiling.

No hvac planned - its pretty moderate here the HO says its not a problem.

I'm concerned about the floor insulation ? What would you do ?

can you sketch up a quick section view and post it.
I think you can leave the insulation as is because it is going to be in the heated envelope if I understand correctly.
if this new finished space is going to be unconditioned then we might have to reconsider.
You could put a foam top and have a slight raise on the floor as you go through the access.
What is this place going to be used for; out of season storage?
