Default Levelling floor Joists 3" out of level in old house

I have a floor to level where the joists in a 130 yr old house have settled at one end. The high point is above the only doorway. I think I have two choices; sister 4" beams to level alongside, or pack out long scribed pieces on top.. any other ideas?

I'd sister it, unless there are insulation or other issues that make the resulting irregular bays a problem.

And it doesn't seem like a 4" board is enough meat for a 3" void. I'd go with 2x6 (5.5"). Don't know what standard sizes are over there.

I'd sister, with the proviso that it's not feasible to jack things up to level.

Thanks- UK sizes are imperial expressed in millimetres! Last time I did this I bolted them together reinforced with screws, but back in the day I remember hand nailing these- would that pass your code?

If the walls are over the floor joists than you will need to jack the building. Perhaps you should contact an engineer.

These joists are on the first floor of an extension (One room), sitting on wall plates, all solid. No walls over the floor. Outer wall construction is brick. When we saw the amount of movement both myself & the architect were concerned, but the client said it had not worsened in 30 yrs- often these old buildings had little foundation. In this case I just need to level the floor, although if it was my house I would have it inspected by a surveyor.
