Comparing Bosch jig saws 1590 vs js572
After an apprentice managed to lose the blade clamp screw of my jigsaw (1581? I think) I've been shopping a bit for a new saw. I've used a 1590 before and was impressed by how smooth it was compared to my 20 year old saw. The lower blade supports seemed like a good feature too so that's what I started looking at. Up here in BC tools are more expensive but I found one in a local lumberyard for $215 CAD.
Then when I started a bit of online research I quickly saw the JS572 and am wondering how it stacks up against the 1590. I see the blade support has changed to a double roller system, were there problems with old static guides? I like that the JS572 has a light and it appears they have lightened the tool while adding some power.
So anyone have any experience with the new saw or better yet used both and can compare.

I would go with Js572. Doesn't look like they even make the 1590 any longer. The LED is what they should all have any more.

Re: Comparing Bosch jig saws 1590 vs js572
I'm beginning to wonder a bit about Bosch. They make a bunch of consumer tools as well as professional level tools and are good at not explaining the differences, particularly in the US.
The 1590/1591 is an incredibly good tool. Even better for the price. Several Bosch reps swore that Bosch was replacing their consumer tools with the JS series but the 1590/1591 tool would remain at the top end, going into a stackable systainer and coming with dust collection attachment for around $210. See my post from two years ago here:
http://forums.jlconline.com/forums/s...highlight=1590.
I didn't quite trust the "corporate line BS" and bought spares.
Eventually the JS572 came out and THAT is the replacement for the 1590/1591 instead of the JS470 that the DIY stores like Lowes and HD had been selling.
I have handled a JS572 and do NOT see how it can have the precision of the 1590/1591. It is also twice the price of the 1590/1591, now more than a Festool Trion, which works almost as well as the 1590/1591 but doesn't look like it would take as much abuse.
If your old tool was a 1587, then the 1590 is a far more precise tool with the same build quality. They greatly improved the blade change mechanism.

I've got a 1590 and really like it. I've not seen the new Bosch but it looks nice. The LED light on all these new tools is a nice feature. I do wonder why they would not just of upgraded the 1590 with a few new features.
