Dws780
My DW718 chopslide has died this week and the cost of repairs is just shy of a CPO DeWalt Refurb. Does anyone like the new slider better than the 718 slide? I have read mixed reviews online. I want to hear it from finish carpenters here as I trust you all over some jehu from an amazon review column.
I'm not sure if the improvements on the new DWS are worth spending another $150+/- over the cost of $325.00 to have the DeWalt Repair Center here in Arbutus,MD to fix it. I do like a few of the newer features but cannot justify the money if it is not a drastic improvement over my constantly out of square and out of alignment 718.
Thank you for your insight and comments fellow finish guys.

Re: Dws780
I do not own the DW780 but used one last year for an extended period and like it overall. It's a better saw than the 718 IMO. I owned a 718 for a week then returned it. I'm not a fan of the 718. The 780 is lighter and for the most part I found it to be pretty damn accurate. The dust collection is good as long as you are using a vacuum. Without the vacuum the dust port gets clogged up because it very long. I like the LED light on it and the shadow line it provides.
Over at Contractor Talk guys claim the miter table is to thin and deflects. I did not notice this. There are a lot of guys prone to a$$babble on that forum.~Kent~

Re: Dws780
Thanks Kent. I appreciate your input as always.
And also the new GMC 2500HD is working quite well. It pulls my new 7x16 enclosed trailer like it isn't even there. I found a nice truck cap for it too to get by until I get a contractor cap to replace it. It looks real sharp with the new magnetic signs I've had made up. I have been meaning to let you know how it all worked out since you recommended the truck to me some months back.
