Ornamental End Post Caps
I'm trying to find some ornamental EPC in 12 gauge or heavier.
Simpson has the CCPC in a 7 gauge
http://www.strongtie.com/products/apg/classic.html
but don't have this ornamental type in an end post cap, for connecting 6x8 beams at the corners.
any ideas where else I could look for these besides Simpson?Last edited by Joe Wood; 01-25-2013 at 01:10 PM.

I found http://www.uspconnectors.com/ but they don't have the ornamental type either. By ornamental I mean they have the bolt holes, but not all the nail holes. Hope someone has a good lead for me!

No I haven't Bill, I bet they'd cost alot more then me having a local shop make them up. I used the wrong term here, I don't want to find EPC, instead I need a 90* corner cap, that accepts two beams meeting in the corner. Pretty strange no one makes these ..

Re: Ornamental End Post Caps
You're right, I was looking in my 2012 paper reference. Looks like they're phasing them out/replacing them. New ones are CCLTC or something.

Edit to add: I also dropped a "C" from the name- it's actually ECCLL or ECCLR, not ECLLLast edited by kfc510; 01-30-2013 at 10:26 AM.

Yeah that ECCLL is the one I'm looking at but it is So ugly, not very ornamental at all even after I have it powdercoated.

Re: Ornamental End Post Caps
Yeah, I hear you. Is there another way you can tie those beams together and onto the post? Looong lags? Wooden pegs? My timber framing skills are pretty weak, so take anything I say with a grain of salt, but if the bents/diagonals are sufficient for resolving the rotational forces at the post/beam connection, all you really need to do is pin the beams together and pin them to the post to keep the beams from sliding off, right? Good luck.

But I bet there pretty . my projects are a lot less refined then yours .I make up many of post stirups and even some hefty hangers in my shop .I did have some custom made -thought it was needed to pass with inspector .they were so basic ,Could of done that myself .

Oh not very pretty at all and one beam end is exposed.
