    Default Infrared camera.

Does anyone know of an infrared camera that hooks up to a laptop. I'm interested in the camera itself, with my laptop doing all the interpretations. If there is something like that out there, that is.

Saw one at the IBC a few years ago, but the camera doodad was more expensive than a stand-alone camera.
    Did not see the point.

    Can you clarify a little?

Fluke makes one the that will connect via USB cable but I am not sure that is what you are really asking for.

    Phil,
I was just looking at the flir cameras this month (just bought the I7). The more expensive models had capability of syncing with an iPad or iPhone. Don't know exactly what that interface provides. When I saw the camera prices I stopped looking.

What are you going to use the camera for? If you are wanting something to have with you that is for your general information and not trying to get real technical then the entry model cameras will do it. Both Fluke and Flir make those. There are different models that are more suited to the building envelope diagnostics vs. predictive maintenance type of operations.
If you are getting into this field I would highly recommend attending a class and getting training. I have a $4500 fluke camera and spent a lot of time reading and playing with it. Last fall I attended the Snell level one class in Chicago; expensive class but worth it 2k for a week.
Dave Meiland also took this class and it was his encouragement to me to do this one vs. some of the others offered.
One thing it did for me was to make me want a more expensive camera so be warned.

Mark, do you need one of those spensive cameras if you have xray vision?

I was thinking of having my eyes done.

it is all for show when you are like you and me.
I am still having a tough time keeping my cape tucked in so no one will notice; how about you?

I am OK as long as there are no phone booths nearby.

Thankfully cell phones are making change rooms obsolete.
