Default Pressure treated wood and lead anchors

I need to fasten some pressure treated wood to a concrete basement floor. I like the lead mushroom head anchors with the drive pin in them but suddenly cannot remember if they can be used with pressure treated wood. I have used them for regular wood and really like using them for the ease of use.

    Is this the product ?

Zinc plated steel pin it says. I would assume some moisture from the PT and / the concrete -- not an acceptable combination and will fail. Min spec is HDG or stainless. Even HDG can have problems when in a wet area.

How about stainless - about a buck each.

that was what I had used for applications that were not pressure treated. Will look into the stainless ones from Fastenall. Funny I did not think of them. They are where I have to order the ones I have been using, most places do not carry them long enough to go thru a 2x4.

I hate Tapcons. I do not know what my issue with them is but it seems I get about half or less to work for me. I drill the hole with the bit they supply, go to put them in and about half of them grab and the rest do not. I would do the old trick of two nails into the hole to hold things before I would use a tapcon.

I have similar problems. Forget the tapcon bits. Get a 5 pk of Bosch bits - much better ---I use a bit of dish liquid on the threads when needed.

The times I've had problems with Tapcons have been when I did not drill deep enough or clear the hole of dust well enough. Both work as a stop and strip the hole threads cut by the Tapcon.

I agree the Bosch bits are far better than the supplied bits.

I dodn't think I've ever used the supplied bit with the Tapcons.
I always use a Bosch SDS bit in my hitachi SDS hammer and drill at least 1" deeper for clearance.

Well you guys might convince me to try them out again. I always figured that the bit they supply is the one to use, plus I am cheap enough to think that it will work so why buy something else. I mean what gets preached hear all the time-follow the makers instructions.

My issue seems to come from when I install them more than anything. They seem to grab and hold then I think, another turn or two to really tighten things up and then they strip out. Will see if I can make them work this next time.

The bit they supply looks cheap, just like every other bit that comes with those wall anchor assortments.
Use a Bosch bit on an SDS drill if you got one, or a good hammer drill. The key with tapcons is to have a clean, and not oversized hole - makes sense, no?
When you tighten them, resist the urge to use ape force - tighten them only 'till they seat on the lumber.
One more thing, I always have a vacuum handy and vacuum out the holes before I put the tapcons in - it gets the remainder of the dust out anyway, even though most of it has already blown in my face after pulling out the bit...
