Default Dust-collection for Demo and Breaker hammers

So, is it just me, or does it seem like all of a sudden the power tool manufacturers are falling over each other to offer dust collection on their demolition and breaker hammers? Hilti, Bosch, and Dewalt already have products on the market, and rumor is Makita with have a solution for their hammers sometime this summer.

So, what's the deal? Did a patent expire, or is this in response to some silica-dust regulations in Europe and the products are now making their way across the pond?

Based on the Youtube videos, it would appear that they seem to work well. I don't do a lot of concrete work, but when I do it is in or around finished homes (I'm a residential remodel carpenter), and the less dust I'm kicking up the better.

Does anybody have any experience with these devices? Thoughts?
    Best,
    Tom

    Wow...nearly 200 views without a response.

Wish I could help but I've never used the vac system. Although I really like the Hilti video....really impressive. I can see something like that being usefull for indoor demo's to keep dust down for your employees and customers safety. Could be a point of sale for remodels if advertised to the right demographic. I would highlight the importance of keeping dust out of ductwork for forced air homes.

I have a catalog from Bosch that I received a couple years ago for Bosch Dust Collection Systems. It is catalog 2010-220 so I am guessing that means it was created in 2010. It clearly shows several different sizes of dust collection for Rotary, Chipping, and Demo Hammer applications.

I have used their dust collection system on their Concrete Surface Grinder quite a bit. I think we started using it around 2008. It helps quite a bit but their demo for "with" and "without dust collection" is not quite realistic. Typical marketing exaggeration.

    Update:

So I swung past the local Hilti center with my Makita HR4010C combi hammer. I wanted to find out how the DRS-B fitting worked and if it was compatible with my Makita hammer. I can post pics if desired, but in a nustshell the Hilti DRS-B comes with three different rubber "sizers" to match the fitting to various Hilti chucks, one for the TE1000 and TE1500, one for the TE905 and TE805, and another for their tools that have SDS-Max chucks. It also includes two different "nozzles" to allow for different lengths of chisels. The dust port was a perfect fit for my Festool D36 hose as well as my D27, though I'm sure the D36 would yield the best dust collection results. The whole works comes in a nice plastic case. As for compatibility, it's not perfect but it can be made to work with my Makita SDS-Max combi hammer. Cost for the Hilti DRS-B was roughly $200, so definitely not cheap but I think it will be worth it over the long run. Any questions or pic requests just let me know. Thanks!

It looks like Makita has a setup that covers rotary hammers and demo hammers. It's on their website. A web search shows it to be affordable compared to the Hilti.
