    Well why didn't you just say that to start with? ;

    I've not disagreed with you on that though, just adding to it. Yes, the top coat w/o the approved primer doesn't get the job done. Primer w/o the well maintained top coat doesn't either. More than one question has been posed.

    Ok, I finally remembered to get prices from the (higher-end) local yard.

    V.G. Doug Fir 1x6 (unprimed) is $2.94/ft.
    Bodyguard 1x6 is $1.71/ft.

    Yes it's treated, I assume by pressure application but I've never looked that deeply.
