Default stucco work with glass for the aggragate?

wondering if anyone has any knowledge of something I ran into. I have done some repairs to the stucco on a house that is around 80 years old. I cannot find any gravel or heavy sand in the mix to give it the textured look. Instead what I am finding is what appears to be green glass that has been broken into pieces roughly the size of rock salt. The glass actually looks like the old Coke bottles that were green. I do not know if the stucco is original or not but kind of suspect it is. There are several houses on the block with a similar style and the stucco work I am repairing is on the gable above a porch roof. Not a lot to repair but enough to make me wonder about the glass in the mix.

My first thought was that I am off on the age of the house but have to ask the owner or the neighbor across the street who seems to be the historian of the block. Thought the glass might have come in during the late 70s when glass bottles were being phased out for plastic and aluminum cans but do not believe the stucco is that recent. Could it have been added as a decorative element, someting that is supposed to sparkle when some of it is exposed in the stucco?

NW, thanks for the info. I was hoping to catch the neighbor across the street since the she has been on the block the longest. I am guessing close to mid 70's and she was born in the house she lives in so she might remember something. If not there is always Tom who has been around for almost as long except he grew up on the block behind this one. Maybe they will have a little insight into it.

I took some pictures with my camera which came out fairly well. Now if I could ever figure out how to post them I would. Technology and I do not get along too well. Still have trouble with the TV remote some days.
