Basement Water Proofing
I generally just stick to the framing forum but I`m looking for some help in the basement water proofing department to help out a loyal customer that is having a issue.
I notice a lot of company do the basement water proofing from the inside for cost saving, they simply remove the concrete 2 feet out from the wall throw some delta membrane on there and fill the floor in. I never really thought about it until my customer called to ask me about it but what about the paint on the wall ( in this case its a block foundation ) won`t the mold grow on it?
Just wondering if anyone has ran into this .

Re: Basement Water Proofing
This has been discussed, do a search.
Short story: Yes, many do this because it's cheaper and sometimes it's VERY expensive to do the outside if there's a driveway, etc. No it doesn't work well. Water still comes in, you're just draining it. It's not waterproofing, it's a drain. That's why it's called a French Drain in my area.

Re: Basement Water Proofing
Inside systems do nothing to stop or divert the water at its source. Any damage water flow is doing to the wall itself, including undermining the footings, is only camouflaged. Price or special conditions, such as a rubble wall, are the only reasons I would consider an inside "solution."
