Beveled cedar siding
I have a question on nailing beveled cedar siding. The siding in question is 5 1/2" and the installation calls for a 4 1/2" reveal. I had always thought you would blind nail this type of product due to the small reveal. Another carpenter on the job thought face nailing was the correct method because nailing into the thin top section only would invite splitting. This made sense to me as well.
Is there a accepted 'correct' method. Assume the exact same nails and schedule are used for either method.Chuck Kiser

Re: Beveled cedar siding
All cedar we install is face nailed. The nail should not penetrate the top of the lower course, but be just above it.

Yep, always face nail cedar bevel, and BTW... I would strongly recommend you always use stainless steel fasteners.
