Not my account, but interesting read in Wired about how this guy's account with Apple and Amazon was hacked.

I've often wondered how secure things are when I"m asked for the last 4 digits of my SS#. I've had to tell hundreds of people those numbers...so why couldn't they impersonate me by using those same four numbers?

Nobody can impersonate you with just the last 4 digits of your SS# - those sites are most likely using other information - probably several other fields PLUS the 4 digits to confirm that you are who you say you are. The hash of your password plus those 4 digits plus your stated zip code, etc. Something like that.
