confession time
I want to be the first to confess that my home needs some work done on it. I did not get the house painted last summer and this summer is going by pretty fast. I am trying to get the time to do the house painting this summer but fall will be as soon as possible.
So wondering how some of you other guys fare with working on your own home and keeping the business going? Also wondering if some of you guys are doing the some of the same things on your homes that we do for others? I am thinking about some of the items that could be anything from installing the latest greatest HVAC systems, solar panels, PVC trim on everything, built in TV cabinets, new flooring, composite decking, weatherization.
I seem to be stuck with just trying to maintain what I have let alone going all in and changing things up.

Master bathroom is terrible. Missing a couple of shingles, dont really need them with the drought.
Soon to be done, I hope.

When you do that stuff all day everyday the last thing you want to do when you get home is more of it.

We started our addition over two years ago...... nuff said... :)
Were just about to prime interior and I have scheduled one of my guys to finish the exterior this August. Winter should have us finish most of the interior. Re: confession time
Just completed our kitchen, started when my wife was pregnant with the twins.
Today I finally did some junk purging as a surprise for the wife.
I just restarted the fireplace/oven-roticrie-grill project that has been left for 3 years. I started it before Dad passed away and since it has been a constant reminder, I couldn't get the juice to finish it. We'll see how it goes.
I also decided to get the plans for an addition done so that my gepthermal contractor could size the appropriate unit. Gotta get that job done befor the snow flies and the tax incentives expire.

Dancing Dan is re-doing my kitchen (and his guys are doing a bang up job), it was the only way it was going to get done in a timely fashion.
Last time I was at his place it looked like he had a few things on his to do list...Mike

Re: confession time
Yeah, I spent yesterday tearing open our bedroom wall - spousal unit having trouble breathing at night, some water damage. Today is re-insulating and hanging sheetrock. Can't wait for Monday.
We've got a list as long as my arm of half finished projects. When we first bought it I banged thru a bunch of projects - raised the roof on the ell, re-roofed, etc. Now, not so much."anxiety tempered by hopelessness."

Re: confession time
Hopefuly finishing up in Sept. A full on house reno with two additions. It was the classic contractor house (cobblers kids again), it unraveled like a cheap sweater and never stopped. All in all been at it 6 years, I'm not in a shallow grave or divorced but I still wouldn't recommend it.

Re: confession time
I sold my house a couple years back, and rent now, but when I owned there was a period of three or four years where I literally had no back door... when I got married I was informed that was a little odd.

Re: confession time
Boy, Phil, I wish I could get away with that as a "surprise" for my wife. If I did that, the surprise would be me going out to find all the crap I got rid of and hauling it back home. I love me a good purge. Her? Not so much.
I still don't have a kitchen backsplash in my house. Kitchen's been done (as a matter of fact, the entire add-a-second-story, total gut remodel) for 4 years. Haven't built out the pantry yet either. Am just now finally getting around to building a fir screen door.No brains, no headaches
