Porter Cable 314 Circular Saw
Does anyone have experience with the porter cable 314 saw?
I was installing windows earlier in the week wishing for a small circular saw with dust collection.
What small circular saw are you using?

Stumbled on Dino using the saw with an improvised dust port:

Take a look at the capacity of the 314. It's pretty limited. It's called a trim saw. I have one I bought several years ago through this forum and I like it. I'll have to look over Dino's mod's. I use it with a fence or a shooting board to cut sheet goods.

Re: Porter Cable 314 Circular Saw
I have one that I've had for about 25 years. Like all the PC stuff at that time, it was high quality and expensive. The new ones ARE crap, particularly the base and the motor bearings. They actually sound different. They might be worth the $250-300 if they were still the quality that they used to be. If you want one, I would buy a 10 year old one that is still the high quality unit for half price.
At this point I usually use it only where my TS55 doesn't fit.

Greg is right. I've had mine for 10 - 12 years and they where we'll made back when porter cable was a quality company. Dewalt turned them into a crap company. Take a look at a Makita cordless trim saw. Dust collection is gonna be bad on any saw that's not a track saw.

Re: Porter Cable 314 Circular Saw
I've got one that's probably 15-20 years old. great saw. yes the depth of cut is limited to just over an inch, but then again, it's not a framing saw! blade selection is limited - I get them online. it's a quiet saw because of the lower rpm.
the newer ones are junk - that's my experience also.
