Senco Fusion F15

Anybody have this?

I'm getting sick of dragging a compressor and a hose around for small stuff. By small, I mean 300' feet of baseboard type stuff.

I love the dependability of air tools, but....

$400.00 is little much for a 15g gun......although I would like to go cordless for the same reasons. I would base my decision on the Warranty and return policy if its sub-par.

Funny. i think I paid $379 for my Senco SFN40 about 15 years ago. BTW, that gun still works perfectly. New Senco's.........don't like 'em much.

Jesse did a review of this gun for JLC or Tools of the Trade. He liked it a lot. What sold me (on eventually buying it) was that it didn't need to recharge between shots. Also, it looks much less bulky than my cordless Dewalt (16 gauge).

Yep, the sfn40 was the best trim gun ever made. Mines 15 years old and I've never had it serviced. Why would they stop making them?? Maybe they're too good....

Back to the OP...I don't trust Cordless guns. They are not reliable and until I'm convinced the Senco is the real deal I'll stick with air hoses.

I've been watching the overall movement of offerings from the various manufacturers of cordless guns for a while. I spoke with the Bosch folks at the JLC show about their offering. They seemed a little surprised by my "underwhelming support". The problem as I see it is that most of the Mfg's are "experimenting" with some new technology in typically one gun/one gauge of finish nailer. Trying to make something light enough to compare with an airgun. Almost like they are not sure if it will work?? They seem to think they can use the professional community as "beta" testers for their products. When I mentioned the idea that I want to go cordless, but IF I go cordless I go ALL THE WAY. It does me no good to have a 15ga gun when most of my trim jobs involve MULTIPLE gauges. For example, when I trim out a room, I might be shooting 15ga on heavier pieces(door jambs, etc.), 16ga on thick side of door casings and base and 18ga on thin edges and maybe even 23ga pins on fine detail moldings. If I have to carry the compressor into the room for ANY of those guns then what VALUE does ONE cordless gun really provide? I suppose it depends on the project, but how often do you only need ONE gauge?

Never had a Senco finish gun before, always the Hitachi NT65MA2, which I guess is now the NT65MA4? I think I paid close to 400 for the 2 version a long time ago and I just looked up the 4 and it's only 150 at Blowes....can't be a good gun. The 2 is 195 at a couple of places.

Maybe I'll just stick with the hitachi 2 version for a while...400 is a lot for a cordless tool that hasn't been around in a while.

If anyone has used the Senco 42XP and the Hitachi fora while, tell me why I should go for the Senco.

Thank you for posting links to my articles on the Fusion line. I'm still loving them.

We still have both air guns and cordless on site at all times. Especially on large projects. Smaller HO jobs I can get away with all cordless..but still love having my small 23g pinners for assembly on the bench. I only have a hose at the assembly table and not dragging through the customers finished home. That alone scores points. 23g cordless technology is coming...so be patient. MAX has a KILLER one in Japan right now ( cant remember the youtube link now sorry)

Here is the reason why you all need at least the cordless 15g...

HANGING DOORS!!

Any one who has dragged a hose around to hang doors will understand. The FUSION gun is simply amazing for this task, and this task alone is worth spending the money on the F-15 alone. Honestly....
We use it for other tasks...but usually switch over to our paslode 18 for running trim...and 16g fusion or paslode for other heavy nailing.

Doors and Blocking/backing the F-15 is worth it...Hook it to a bucket full of shims, and just walk!

Heres an idea: I used to play a lot of paintball and used several high pressure air systems. Some as high as 4500 psi, they built remote systems so you could carry the tank on your back with a hose to your gun. Many paintball guns today run sub 200 psi. I don't think it would be too hard to regulate it down to 125 psi used by air guns. Most HP tanks are regulated down to an 800 psi output, some even less. You could do a similar setup with a large(20oz) CO2 tank. This solves 2 problems mentioned, being tied to a compressor and being able to use multiple guns on the same power source. I have no idea how many nails you can get out of a tank but I could usually run 800+ paintballs off a 45 ci tank at 4500 psi.
