I have always used PL Premium or Liquid Nails. You could try Instant Grab. Not sure I would want to use a urethane without clamping well.

If you just want it to stick: epoxy, pl premium, silicone.

If it's something technical i.e. has to withstand a certain amount of shear, torque or heat I will talk to my industrial Loctite supplier. I've used their stuff for for metal guide bushings to acrylic for drilling jigs and metal to wood flush door pulls. charles. There are two answers.

Polyurethane glue or sika EBT.

If the joint is to be flexible use EBT, if not use polyurethane.

If you go for polyurethane you have 2 options, a liquid format like gorilla or titebond (purple) or a gel format dispensed from a tube using a skeleton gun

Sika EBT is avaliable in half a dozen colours. If they don't suit you, you can overpaint it.

Sorry, it's for threaded rod going into wood cabinet pulls. Needs to withstand a little torque, not much.

Gel or liquid version of polurethane glue, Skia EBT, and even silicone at a pinch. they all work in the situation you describe

In all cases ensure the rod is pependicular to the knob/pull after the glue has set, tightish tollerances help

Why would someone be twisting the knobs, shouldn't they be pulling on them?

tjb has added glue type 4 to the list.

His post has reminded me that a 5th and 6th glue types should be added to the list (in low torque appications) superglue and "miterfix"

First we twist to install (other end of threaded rod secured by nut), then pulled ever after.

I've used Gorilla Glue with success. The 4X expansion might be a pain to deal with, though.

Tom, those are good but the materials are already on site. The reason for threaded rod is that we are securing 4" thick insulation to an attic hatch.
