Hey Rookie Go Get The Board Stretcher...
Saw this on fine home buildings website earlier.
Anyone seen or heard of this before?"I'm not convinced that the world is in any worse shape than it ever was . It's just that in this day and age of almost instantaneous communication, we bear the weight our forefathers only read about after they were solved." - Burton Hillis

Yep, been using it for years. I keep a can in the truck right next to the box of self setting finishing nails.

Re: Hey Rookie Go Get The Board Stretcher...
I saw a sider use some of that. He had pre-fabbed a bunch of 5/4 window trims and assembled them with pocket screws at the joints. Hauled them all up on the scaffolding and started to install them.
Turns out the widths were good, but the heights were short by about 5/8". Rather than toss them all he put that stuff on the jamb legs, hung them from the scaffold weighted the jambs with sandbags and let them hang overnight. The stretch was surprisingly even and he could use the frames then next day.
Fixed his jig for the rest of the work and carried on.
Nobody here stocks it, though. Had to special order

Re: Hey Rookie Go Get The Board Stretcher...
I got some of that board stretcher stuff all over my hands and... you should see what happened when I didn't wash my hands before taking a leak.
It is a simple matter of being patient. I do patience very well, except for the waiting part. That's the one aspect of patience that still bites me.
I'm not saying I'm Superman. What I'm saying is no one has ever seen me and Superman in the same room together.
