OSHA To Allow Switch To 24V Construction Site Power To Resolve Safety Issues
OSHA has announced a new program that encourages contractors to switch from 120 volt AC site power to 24 volt AC for construction site power. The change is for wired tools and other electrical devices at construction sites to eliminate the risk of electric shock.
Square-D and several other suppliers are developing compliant distribution panels for use on temporary power poles. A new line of power cords using carbon nano tubes as the conducting medium will ensure that the power cords are lighter weight and small diameter than current technology. They will also eliminate the voltage drop over long distances that occurs with typical metalic wire power cords, thus virtually unlimited length cables can be used.
Tool suppliers can easily modify their existing lines of low voltage tools to produce wired 24 volt AC versions at a significant costs savings as no expensive battery will be required.HERS Rater • BPI Building Analyst • BPI Envelope Professional

Re: OSHA To Allow Switch To 24V Construction Site Power To Resolve Safety Issues
Do you REALLY mean 24V.......... as in twenty four volts AC (alternating current)
I already have two sets of tools. The first set is 240V, the second set is 110V
Now the american OSHA wants twenty four volt tools on site
This is not a joke (funny ha ha) question. It is a serious, because what happens in north america easily crosses the Atlantic within 18 to 36 months.Limey Carpenter
