Default Knauf EcoSeal and O/C EnergyComplete

Both of these are quite similar. Two components come to a spray gun to coat joints, cracks, and corners in exterior walls, prior to filling stud bays with insulation.

    Worth it?

I know these are used in a manner similar to how people use can foam on some jobs where they're going for a very tight shell.
The Owens Corning version, besides being a very pretty pink color, remains flexible and a bit tacky. Seemed to me it would have a good shot at keeping things sealed up through the normal seasonal movement process.
However, it's off the market 'while they rework the formula'. Probably one thing they would need to do is cut the price a bunch.
Don't know much about the Knauf version but if anything like this hits the market at a reasonable price I can see us using it on a number of jobs.

I was approached early last year about the possible use of the Knauf system but my supplier of Knauf insulation kind of dropped the ball. Although the concept has merit, I find that more of my customers are opting for a flash and batt approach. We are typically installing 2 " of closed cell and r-13 batt in sidewalls and rim joists, thus rendering the air sealing approach afforded by the Eco Seal system not applicable.

It has actually been on my list to further investigate... but I have a long list.

Bob, there was a review of these systems by Martin on GBA maybe 4-6 months back...
