    Default new left hand sidewinder

My beloved PC SawBoss has a bent base. I can get new parts for about $40, spend 2-3 hours messing with it. (plus the blades are getting hard to find)
Or I can buy a new left hand sidewinder, these are the two I've seen:
    Milwaukee :

    Bosch:

    Any Opinions?

BTW not interested in a worm drive

    thanks

Why not a PC lefty? I bought one a couple of years ago and like it. Of course, all(I think) battery saws are lefties anyways.

I own the right hand version of the Milwaukee and think its the best 7 1/4" sidewinder made. I'd buy the Milwaukee. The new PC saws are junk.

The sight lines on the Milwaukee are excellent and it's smooth and powerful and not a ton of vibration.

I got that same Bosch a few months ago and I love it. I use it for everyday work. However for HEAVY use I still prefer the wormdrive so I dont know how it would hold up if used for heavy framing everyday.

    Another vote for the Milwaukee...
I started out with nothing. I still have most of it left.

I have both the 6" SawBoss and the 7 1/4 PC lefty. These have served me well for many years, and I would probably sell the 7 before the 6.

Now I bought blades a long time ago and stocked up, I think some from mcfeeleys and whenever I saw them, and I'll send them out for sharpening every couple years. The SawBoss is light and strong enough for reasonable framing tasks as well.

Now, for $40, add another $5 and do the brushes, $6 for a sixer, and you're set for another couple years use!

    Tim,
You are talking about the 6" PC Saw Boss, right? I have that saw and love it, but I also had to replace he base. I wish they made a magnesium base for it! Even if you end up getting a different saw, I would still recommend getting the replacement base because I think you'll miss the Saw Boss every now and again.

How much work was it to replace the base?

It was quite a few years ago, so I am probably blocking out all the cursing, but I don't remember it being too bad. I think you are safe with your time estimate of a couple hours. Do it in front of a football game or something.
