    Default Range hood exterior vent

Anyone seen anything better than the cheap thin ones that come with your basic range exhaust fan/hood.
Replacing siding on a high end customer and wants something a little better.
    Rectanglar vent about 3 x 10.
Seems someone should make one with a gasket that seals a little better. But then maybe with grease could get stuck close at times.

    Thanks

Another is the Broan model 639 (http://www.pexsupply.com/Broan-639-M...FQXd4Aodaxcflg).

I used that one in a down and out installation and was satisfied with it. I don't think any such vent cap with a flapper on it will be as tightly sealing as a motorized damper, but the Broan was much better than the cheap ones you refer to.

For looks, Seiho makes some nice caps.

Do you have a tin man in your area? They should be able to make you something nice out of whatever metal(copper, stainless, etc.) suits you.

I started out with nothing. I still have most of it left.

I have ordered Broan vent caps online a couple times because I ran into the same problem as you did with only being able to find cheapo vents locally. The Broan vents are heavy metal with spring loaded dampers, very nice but cost a bit more than Depot vents.
