Default Looking for mitersaw stand ideas.

I'm building a stand for my new saw (DW718) and I'm looking to incorporate some stuff to make the stand efficient for everyday use. I'm starting with my old tried and true Rigid Mule stand, I like it because it makes moving the heavy slider into the house a breeze. I've never liked the out riggers so they will be gone. I thinking of doing two 4' removable box table extensions on each side of the saw with some sort of extending outriggers.

I've done a search and come up with a few ideas but I figure the more I have the better. Thanks in advance for your help.

The only thing I don't like about Ron's stand is the home-made stop for repetitive cuts.

A better idea IMO is to use one of the available U channels and flip-stops, with a stick-on tape measure in it. With that setup, you can have several flip-stops so you can make multiples of several different lengths.

I've looked at that but I don't want to carry that much stuff in on a job. With the saw mounted to the Mule I can roll everything I need in one shot.

I've looked at some of the Kreg stuff and may try to use the flip stops and tape, we'll see. I'de like to keep with the K.I.S.S. thought of design. (keep it simple stupid) or (keep it stupid simple)

Steer clear of the flip stops, they are not accurate enough. The production stop does well though.

This is mine, it's on a ryobi stand (that is very well built).

I made the two wings, out of some old chipboard which i replaced in my moms wardrobes.

They are fixed to the stand and supported by an ajustable roller stand.

I'd love it if the ryobi stand was on wheels but for £30 ($50) i can't complain.

That gets the job done, thanks for the input. We don't have a Ryobi stand like that in the states that I know of.

Here's mine, built off of the U.S. version of the Ryobi stand. . . . I really wanted some work surfaces and drawers for my saw stand, and I wanted supports for the ends of the side tables, so I could get a good strong 15' surface.

That gave me some ideas thanks. I like the drawers, how do they stay closed?

I have a piece of accesory cord through a hole in the back of the drawer and the back of the box- it keeps the drawers from falling out, and when I move the stand, I put a slip knot in the cord at the back of the box. I should put a little cord toggle on there, but a slip knot is quick enough to tie that it doesn't bother me.

Here's some pix of my stand. Its modeled on Gary's stand, but the extensions are wider (torsion-box construction) and I made my own hardware for attaching to saw. I wanted these to be sturdy as they double as a bench for planing, coping, etc.

Still more pix. Adjustable height legs that fold up flat. Tables are 5' long which gives me a total length of about 12' with the saw. The saw stand is a Delta universal miter saw stand.

I like it, how's it holding up over the long run? I also really like how it's attached to the saw. I have a RIGID Mule, it's about the same as the Delta stand only heavier. I thought about getting a new rolling stand but the Mule is in good shape so I'll stick with it for awhile. Thanks for posting pics of your setup.
