    Default Anyone in Cincinnati?

Looking to re-locate at the end of July. I have a few feelers out there in other places but Cincinnati really sounds good to me with all the Urban re-development going on and the logistics of mine and my wife's family.

I try to stay focused on Historical work but I've got plenty of commercial management experience under my belt too. Anyone from there that could offer some good tips on who to contact for possible work? I'm looking to work as an employee but might consider sub-contracting if it's fairly stable.

    Thanks

Depending on what side of the spectrum you are on, there could be money for the taking in Cincinnati.

I live fairly close to there but the politics are heavily skewed in regards to priorities. The banks project just got opened back up now that Kasich agreed to put it back online.

Casino gambling is coming to town as well. Late, but coming to town.

Over the Rhine if you know how to wear bullet proof armor at all times in public.

Taxes are outrageous in Hamilton County, that's why so many have moved out of that area because of the tax rates. Lots of politics/fees/regulations so it's a mover beware scenario.

You'll be required to get a contractor's license like everyone else, open book, $300 and call yourself a contractor with a simple open book test.

I've seen a lot of positive things coming from the Over the Rhine area. Not sure I would live there because I like to live just outside of the busy city areas but it does look good for re-development. Lot's of stuff going on there and people are buying!

I don't know, I'm up against a bit of a crap shoot here soon and I thought it sounded like this place might be on an early rebound. I called a few Historic Restoration places based there and some are doing well, and some not....

State license or local city license?

I am about 40 minutes north of Cincinnati and there market is doing better than most. They have a good HBA and it would be worth joining. If remodel is you main focus then check out Indian Hill.

Lots of older upscale homes that are in need of repair and there is money there.

Where would be a good place to look for a house to rent? I'd like a lower rent area outside the city but I don't want to wake up and find my wheels got stolen off the truck either. lol

Jason, I am not familiar with what area's are good and/or bad to live so I will be of no help there.

Another thought on work though, you may start to make contact with some of the architects in Cincinnati, they seem to be very involved in the projects.
