    Default Tile over Nuheat

Hi everyone I am new to JLC and just went out on my own about a year ago. I do have experiance but trying to see if theres better and easier ways to do things. Tiling over Nuheat matt's. Should I use self leveler first to help protect the matt and to make it easier to tile(flat surface) or just back butter each tile and fight with lipage? The matt's are thin but I am doing 4 seperate matt's so I will have a lot of pesky wires and probes to deal with. Feedback and Ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks. P.S. the room is 400sqf. on slab.

The only time I have used a leveler with Nuheat is after laying the cables, the mats dont need it. You would be defeating the purpose of the mat really.

The only time I will use a self leveler is if I am setting mosaics.

I agree with the guys above me. Nu-heat mats are flat and I agree that the use of SLU for mosaic OR if you plan on doing combination of tile in different sizes ( like a tile "mat" insert )
It helps to be able to snap lines with your layout.

Not sure about the Nuheat, but i always cut the wires out of the "suntouch" mats. I wind the wires around slightly proud screws. This allows me to configure the wires however i want and optimizes my heat layout. Then i cover it all with SLU. the screw heads give me a good consistent level to "fill" to. Then i have a flat, smooth surface to tile on with a level of protection over the wires. Never had much luck leaving the wires in the mats.
