Re: underlayment stapler
On my line roofing job I bought a new Arrow HTX 50 stapler, Works pretty nice I think. The foot is made so you don't tear the paper when stapling. And it is easier on you hands too. From any of the other I have and have used this one I like the best .

Re: underlayment stapler
I've found the Senco SKS to be perfect for that. If you can find a used one, all the better. Mine's at least 15 years old & still functions perfectly. It has more power than most narrow crown guns, which comes in handy when we're fastening to dense lumber often found in remodels.
Duo-Fast also makes a very nice underlayment stapler. It comes with either a standard or double length magazine, which minimizes reloading (but makes the tool a bit more cumbersome). I've noticed many carpet & tile guys use Duo-Fast guns - ours swears by his.Greg

Re: underlayment stapler
That's probably in part due to the fact that Duo-fast guns are commonly found in flooring type supply houses.
I've had good luck with my Bostich, but haven't asked much of it.

Re: underlayment stapler
I use an older BEA narrow crown stapler. Mine is over 30 years old and only been rebuilt once. I don't use it that much anymore but it still works great when I do.

I''ll second the Senco SKS. Hold up very well and can shoot fast. The key is to have a compressor that will keep up and dry air.
