Portland, Oregon guys...
....any of you have flooded basements? My sump pump's been working overtime -- so much so that is pumped itself to death. I've been down there every three to four hours with my portable flotec and my shop vac. Luckily, all of our stuff is palleted.
Our house was originally built in 1890 and that slab's seen better days, of course. As near as I can tell, the water's just seeping up through the slab and through the sump pump cut-out. We have so much stuff down there, it's tough to get a full read on the situation.
How are you guys doing with this record-breaking rain?No brains, no headaches

No problems here, but I know a number of people who are having problems.
Gotta admit I'm a bit nervous about a recently completed basement remodel... if it stays dry through this, is should be bombproof.http://www.lavrans.com

Agreed, Lavrans. I finished up a basement in June and I'm a little nervous as well. But I think you're right -- if we make it through this, we should be fine. My basement was bone dry all last winter.

Re: Portland, Oregon guys...
Ooh- that last rain event we had a few weeks ago was problematic. They welded cross bars across all the drains in the street- something to do with bicycle safety, and that means they plug up quite easily now. We got a few thousand gallons in the basement where my shop is. Fortunately it didn't get back to my shop, but the printer lost some paper and the uphosterers wound up with a couple hides with water damage.
There were people there when I left today, but that also has me a bit worried.http://www.lavrans.com

Re: Portland, Oregon guys...
No worries here in Tigard. My neighbors gutter was plugged. And started to wash out some bark dust across and down my driveway. We are downhill. I went over & knocked on the door. No one home. So I got my ladder out & unplugged it. It was at the limit of my ladder. Could have "borrowed" my other neighbors 30' er.
Rivers are all up. Fanno Creek was close to bank full on Thursday. Wilamette in Wilsonville was up high too.

Sounds like what I would have done, Scrapr. Take matters into your own hands. AND they get a free gutter cleaning...
