    Default Demilec vs. Icynene

I have a house under construction and will be using spray foam for insulation in the walls and rafters (non-vented attic). The house is approx 9,500 sq ft living area with 12' ceiling 1st floor and 9' ceilings 2nd floor, concrete foundation. Are there any advantages/disadvantages of Demilec vs. Icynene.

Which product are you using from each manufacturer? Back in the day, Demilec ruled the house with their closed cell product and Icynene did the same with their open cell product.

I think with either mfr you can't go wrong, its more of a product selection, i.e. close vs. open cell, etc. Both mfr's I believe make both products now.

We've used both. Had problems with Icynene not sticking to band boards and so on, later "explained" as bad batch/we were reformulating/applicator error, all depending on who you talk to--having said that, icynene is widely used with few major quality hassles so I don't think they are a special risk.
Personally I don't like icynene the company because to me they have said lots of stuff that isn't actually true, such as "doesn't offgas any chemicals" and "you don't need to install code levels of insulation" over the years, things that turn out to be, how can I put it nicely, the opposite of the truth.
But their offgassing insulation may be just as good as Demilec's.
Demilec's local rep is not that great here either but again the foam seems to be fine.

I certainly wouldn't pay a premium for either one, if I could get a comparable spec from the other.
