    Default 2011 Builder's Show

2011 IBS is a little over a month away. I attended my first show in 1980, and what I’ve learned as a result of these shows probably account for a large portion of what small success I’ve had as a home builder. I would encourage all contractors to attend.

This link shows all of the educational shows by day/time/topic:

Here are a few that interest me:

This seminar on contracts is by my attorney who wrote the contract I (and many builders) use:

It would be great to meet up with other JLC'ers.

I will be there as well, my first show was in Atlanta 10 years ago. Its a great time to re-charge my batteries and get focused. I thought last years show was one of the best, it was smaller and not so crowded. I am sure this year will be the same, I see that the south hall is not open this year.

I have a "wish list" of seminars that I laid out on the Builders Show site and had marked all of your picks Allan except for the attorney, I will hit that one as well.

Joe's Cheap tricks seminar is one of the best, last years in particular was outstanding. Whats new this year? Are you bringing back the back hoe?

I try to hit Carol Smiths seminar and anything Bob Whitten does. Looks like lots of Social Media seminars as well.

It would be nice to get together for dinner again, I am open Tues, Wed, or Thurs evening.

    Bill.

Business being what it is this year, maybe dinner at McDonalds? I'm game for wherever, hopefully Joe can join us. I know Dan is attending, not sure about Randy, Stacey and Cody from Alaska will be there.

    Anyone else?

I'd love to go some day - the lectures that Allan shared with me were great. Not this year - save me a seat for 2012.

I am staying within walking distance, if 1 mile is walking distance, from the convention center.
Maybe something in the area if that is convenient for everyone.

Maybe something a little more romantic:)

It sounds like Thursday may be a good fit? I am good with that.

    Looking forward to getting away!

I can't make it this year either but next year should be a go. Dan, when you do get a chance to go you won't regret it. Also there is a discounted entrance fee for first time attendees.

    Dan or Allan
If either of you hit a seminar that is really good and you think I might benefit from please let me know so I can purchase a DVD of it.

We're getting in on the Friday before the show and leave that Friday of the show. Dinner early on Thur sounds good. We could meet at the Hilton - it's attached to the convention center. I'm sure they probably have a good restaurant. www.thehiltonorlando.com Then we don't have to worry about getting everyone transported to another location. Just a thought....

Any other JLC'ers attending beside Stacey, Dan (Ohio Builder), Bill R, Donny, Joe, and me?

Got to say the NAHB is really good at marketing. On Twitter they claim this show will be the 5th largest ever, with 55,000 attendees.

Allan, isn't the number they posted just for you and your entourage?

Check with the AHJ, what we say doesn't matter.

I wonder how good the vendor turnout will be? Sounds like it should be better than last year though.

I think it will be a similar size to last year. The south hall is not open this show as it has been in the past. I really liked last years...hope this years is just as good.
