Default Looks like Earl is coming this way

CNN speculated outer banks NC is on a head on path. I'm right behind it and living in the land of tunnels and bridges. This area is long overdue for a big one, maybe you guys will see me on tv on my roof yelling for help!!

    Charlie,

Do you know when a hurrycane last threatened HHI. The last I can remember Hugo struck north of Charleston in '89.

We were just getting ready to break ground on several intracoastal waterway homes in Wild Dunes when it hit.

Needless to say the plan was changed overnight.

Took me several months just to get back on the island as all the bridges were destroyed and officials only allowed residents access.

The most devastation I have ever seen in my life. Approaching Charleston....An entire national forest flattened for 80 miles leading into the area.

Hugo came up in conversation last week with a guy who was here for that......"we were hanging out at the Tiki bar with a bunch of other crazy locals when the storm went by"....... someone nothiced thhhhat the water was thhhhuddenly waaaayyyy out like a thhuper low tide and they all got quiet(sober) for a minute or two. He remembers that part like it was yesterday!!

Floyd in 1999 gave us a good scare, early path projections had HHI and SAV in the cork!
Wife was at US open......heard about the storm on the plane coming home....she got out of the airport shutlle and my van was loaded with equipment/etc........I said don't unpack!
+ we were only in our brand new home for about a month!
Floyd took a last minute trun in our favor an smacked NC.

2yrs later she goes to the US open again, and is in LGA airport when fist plane stikes TT.
Took her a few days to get home..........both very shaken by it all......but remember telling her you will never fly safer (2 air marshalls on her plane ride home).

She has not been to US open since.......... ;~)
