    Default Metabo LI combo

Used their grinders, but none of their cordless tools.

My Hitachi 18v just died, and my wife's got the Makita set, so looking for something different. Anyone use the Metabo's?

At $420 this seems like a nice price for a good reputation. http://www.amazon.com/Metabo-Combo-4...9850957&sr=1-4

Been there w/ Dewalt and Bosch, not going back. Milwaukee..... maybe.

Would love a Festool, but to swallow 5 bills on one drill is a tough pill. Plus I usually chuck up 2-3 at a time so that can't happen.

Really looking at the Panny's but just caught this Metabo deal and the idea is marinating...

Mostly interior finish and cabs, but some framing and decks. Have two (working) mini Milwaukees. Cordless Hammer function is not a concern at all.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

I have had great luck with both the Milwaukee and Metabo.
I think in quality the Metabo is a better tool.

maybe 6 years back i picked up a metabo driver ,do not recall voltage . next up from the 12v . handle was to big for my hand ,battery life was fine . had some feature to keep from stripping screws -that burned out immediately . i gave it away to someone in need so i could buy something i liked .So ,my point -do not buy a brand ,by the tool you want .pick it up ,drive some screws or what ever . hey try a few out .

Interesting option. The Milwaukee V28 is excellent if you can swing it. Wish I still had mine.

Probably going with Panasonic. I've used them and was really impressed. The Metabo deal is enticing, but without trying the tools...

I use Panasonic for drill and impact. Awesome. Don't think they make other tools for their larger battery platform though.

Makita 18V li-ion is the way to go. Many tools in the line and they work very well under hard use.

I've got to have a large variety of bare tools to go with a system. I was with Bosch and now use the Makita LXT stuff.

Still use my Bosch cordless miter saw, planer, jigsaw and 1/2 impact wrench though.

When my Bosch batts die, I'll make some adapters to allow the use of the LXT batts.

With my Makita LXT setup, I've got quite a variety of tools, including some oddball stuff which really do become my goto tools for a lot of tasks. Being able to do such tasks cordless and with one single batt/charger system is huge.

    For instance:

Makita LXT metal cutting circ saw - great for thresholds, aluminum sheet, copper/steel pipe, etc.
LXT grinder - coping with 36 grit discs, cutoff wheel, tile replacement, metal grinding.
LXT right angle drill - spade bits for elctrical holes, tight corner drilling...
LXT right angle 1/4 impact - great for cabinetry and any tight corner screw driving.
LXT stick vac - useful for jobsite cleanup or spot vacuuming. Used it the other day for a quick Festool Domino use - you HAVE to use a vac when cutting holes with the Domino.
LXT blower - great for cleaning driveways or decks of sawdust. Blowing off tablesaws and mitersaws.
LXT multi impact/hammer/drill - single tool for a variety of uses...
    LXT radio/mp3 input player

Point is, these are all relatively specialty tools that most of the other manu's don't have in their lineup, and I'd be very unhappy not to have at my disposal.

Plus - it'll be years before Makita changes the battery system - way beyond when Metabo decides to change theirs or giveup on the cordless segment.
