Andersen Window caulking
Any suggestions for an alternative to silicone to caulk between Andersen Terratone windows and the painted cedar trim around them?
I always use silicone but I want paintable caulking, (other than latex) on this job.
My concern is to not end up with something that is incompatible with the vinyl. Andersen will only say that they recommend silicone.
Urethane?
Thanks.

Polyseamseal Ultra Exterior (http://www.polyseamseal.com/ultraext.shtml) if white is OK, if you need colors they have acrylic silicones (http://www.polyseamseal.com/acrylic.shtml). An acrylic silicone will be paintable.

It's a pain when what the manufacturer recommends doesn't do what you need.
I've used OSI Quad for vinyl/wood connections. Comes in pretty colors if you can get it.

Solar Seal works best, IMO.
Extremely flexible, and paintable when dry.

For exterior work, it's the only product I use.Chuck

Re: Andersen Window caulking
I just was given some Titebond exterior caulk to try out. So far not too impressed. One thing that got my goat was you have to use isoprophyl alcohol to clean it up. Not something I carry with me on a regular basis. Also seems a bit thinner than Solar Seal.
So far only using it on a few smaller projects at my house to see how it works out. If it does not work any better than right now it is back to Solar Seal for me.
