    Default Dishwashers

I've had another Fisher Paykel go out again, they've been nothing but trouble, I don't care for the Bosch or the other vanity appliances, I've always had my best luck with Kitchenaids, the appliance stores all seem to try to sell the customers on Bosch. I checked a few years ago and was told that it was best to stay with American brands like Kitchenaid because they can take bulk food, the vanity brands can't and people have to pre-wash their dishes. Now a customer has called to say that the appliance repairman has told him that none of them can take bulk food anymore, and that Bosch is the best, I've never been sold on Bosch, I even had trouble anchoring them in the holes.

What trouble-free experiences are you guys having now? This customer doesn't want the drawer style anymore, he wants to be able to put large pans and things in them.

    Bosch is the best.
Some makes like Thermador are made by Bosch.

I've had good luck with recommending Kitchenaid and have one in my own home. They used to be made by Hobart but are owned by Whirlpool now. My parents had one last 25 years.

My understanding is that modern dishwashers are required to use less water as well as less energy for heating so they are not as effective as they used to be.

Also, everything seems to be made of plastic so moving parts wear out quicker.

My Kitchenaid Superba by Hobart has been working fine since I installed it in 1978. In those days one could choose the face (white, ss, glass, etc) one wanted. I chose black glass.

Only one problem and I changed out the (plastic) detergent cup/lid dispenser.

    I guess I might be dissapointed if I go shopping now for a new one>;

I have a Bosh, and while I rinse dishes before putting them in there, it can wash them and get rid of small stuff without a problem. The issue I do have is related to slightly hard water--the thing needs regular doses of citric acid or it stops working completely.

Instead of Fisher & Paykel you need a Labrador retriever. Some things are that simple. F&P dwahers esp the drawer have had a consistent reliability ding. Bosch still takes the overall top spot.

I use GE Profile or Monogram and haven't had any problems.

If your customer has deep pockets you could try www.Miele.com

Miele or Bosch, are the only two I use.

I believe Bosch has three different dishwasher lines so you will have to decide which one fits your needs.

I will never use Bosch again.

About 5 years ago I put a top Bosch model in my house. It wouldn't dry the dishes fully, especially plastic coffee mugs. After several service calls where they replaced a bunch of things and it didn't fix the problem, I dragged out the manager of the local distributor. He ran a cycle and said this is normal. Bosch doesn't use heating coils, they have a fancy-schmancy way of evaporating the water. And it doesn't dry the dishes completely. Sure enough, I look and there is no heating coil.

I made them rip it out and replace it with a Kitchenaid. Not real happy with the Kitchenaid, the racks are poorly coated and the ends started rusting after about 4-years, but it works fine.

Bosch is on my black list right next to SubZero. Don't get me started.

Agree with the others, Bosch and miele.

dg - did you use the rinse agent with your bosch? They need the rinse agent to dry the dishes, I've never had a problem with them drying and the dishwasher cleans everything off the dishes.

Can't speak to their dishwashers... their stoves / ranges are overpriced garbage.

Installed countless and can not recall any problems with any. Fisher Paykel, Blomberg, Bosch etc. all perform well.

I have a Bosch in my home that is used a minimum of twice a day for the past four years without a glitch.
