Fypon surround for garage
Does anyone have a few picture they would like to share that uses Fypon crossheads and pilasters for garage door trim? I know I have seen crossheads without pilasters as well but cant find pictures that would help my customer decide. TIA

All pic's help thanks, I guess you just used existing casing in place of pilasters. I actualy have a brick set up to deal with so with-out pilasters I think it may look cheesey. Hence the pic's

Re: Fypon surround for garage
is that an electric supply meter on the side of the building ?
does it get a box over it when the job is finished?
does the wire get set in trunking to hide it?
ive never yet seen an "exposed" electric supply or meter, so my guess is that english electric regs require them to be protectedLast edited by Tom Bainbridge; 11-15-2009 at 04:18 AM.

Re: Fypon surround for garage
thanks tom, i have another couple of questions
can the electric supply be hidden (set in trunking / inside the wall framing)
i can see the cable goes high up the wall, is it because the electric supply on this house comes off a "telegraph pole" in the street
im asking the question because electric is always an underground service here
only long distance high voltage national grid electrics (11 Kva and above) are on pylonsLast edited by Tom Bainbridge; 11-15-2009 at 08:23 AM.

Re: Fypon surround for garage
Tom yes on this particular job it comes in from a pole
most new developments around here are underground
the trunking question I'm not qualified to answer, but
i think it could be installed in the wall but not using
that meter panTom

Re: Fypon surround for garage
Tom,
I love the terms you come up with.... LOL
We've converted all our "telegragh poles" around here to the new modern "telephone poles".
Now we have these wireless "cell towers" all over the place and most people are getting away from thier wired phones. Someday all telephones will be from "cell pylons" rather than poles.
To answer your power question, most new developments use underground cables, but there are still way more "overhead" lines than underground here. Usually the wire is in a conduit pipe running down the wall, but there is a wire rated for exposed if you want to cheap out. I believe the meter has to be located outside.
I am not an electrician but I don't think you can run the overhead feed inside the wall. Only after it exits the meter does it enter the house.
Now go have a pint for me and make sure they don't frost the glass. I love brittish beer.
