Default Lafarge rapid coat vs USG AP

    it's me again

I decided I didn't want to deal with the hassle of mixing and cleaning with setting mud. I was at Lowes ready to buy some USG AP ready mix whenbi noticed they carried Lafarge rapid coat. The Lafarge says I may be recoated in about 4 hours. Even if that time is off a bit, it's still better then the 24 hours with AP.

Would the lafarge rapid coat be the choice to make since I may be able to second coat on the same day and not deal with mixing and timing of setting mud.

Yes, LFRC is a very nice mud to work with, it almost has a oily feel to it at times, try not to water it down to much & keep the air moving, It is alot better the USG AP which has alot of glue in it but likes to crack as drying. Peace, Ed.

I actually never tried LaFarge. However, I was at Lowes too today, and noticed they had all the PROFORM Durabond - 45 min on clearance for $6.00. Great deal!

Rapid Coat is the best mud I have ever had the pleasure of using. And I have tried everyone avaiable here in NH. Its lighter than USG blue lid, sands the easiest of all muds, drys the fastest and whips up pretty good without water. The only issue is that its not as widely avaiable so I end up using USG blue lid more often. But RC is the best IMO!

I like rapid coat also...although I have had poor adhesion problems when thinned down to run through bazooka for taping. shrinks a little worse than lightweight/midweight or lite/multi-use..but being able to recoat in 4hrs without having pitting issues is nice.
