Midwest Roadshows
It seems like every time we finish a group of shows, I hear from people who say: "I wish I'd know you were going to be near here!"
So I'm letting folks in the Midwest know that in a few weeks Mike and I will be doing clinics in:
Finish Shows
Lincoln NE: Oct. 5
Louisville, KI: Oct 9
Rough Shows
Indianapolis, IN: Oct. 12
South Bend, IN: Oct. 14
Menomonee Falls, WI: Oct 16
We always look forward to meeting you all and sharing tips and techniques at the shows.
Gary

Re: Midwest Roadshows
I already signed up for the Louisville Show Gary.
Boland Maloney Advertised it in the local Home Builders Magazine and I caught it.
I've heard alot about how good of a show it is and really looking forward to seeing it in action.Louisville Exteriors

Re: Midwest Roadshows
Very cool....I finally don't have to drive for days on end! Now I just need some info regarding the South Bend, IN show.....I would certainly appreciate it.
"We can do it, You can't help" My son (3 at the time) told the Home Depot guy on one of numerous trips. The guy walked away rather dejected.

Re: Midwest Roadshows
Anyone who wants more info can find it at www.garymkatz.com - I know he keeps it updated there. I'm pretty sure you can even sign up for attendence there.
Gary, I'm bringing a bud of mine to the Lincoln show. Don't know if I'll be watching, helping, or both, but I'll be there. He's pretty pumped up too.
Everyone else, I can't emphasize enough it does not matter what your experience level is. The show is a great way to spend a day of your precious time, and you will absolutely not leave feeling like it was time wasted.Real trucks run on compression

Re: Midwest Roadshows
Wingsprnt,
I see the listing for the Oct 14 show in South Bend on this site, but checking Gary's site it shows it at Home Lumber New Haven, which is outside Fort Wanye.
Here is a link to the show locations;
http://www.katzroadshow.com/upcoming_events.html
This is a link to the reservation page;
http://www.katzroadshow.com/Reservat...servations.htm
I just reserved a spot for two so Chuck Kiser will be attending also, though I have not told him yet.
RWeber,
Thanks for posting the link I toke the information above from

Re: Midwest Roadshows
Ahhhh, so it was a good thing to post that note! Even if only one or two people don't email me saying they wished they'd known....
I'm always reluctant to post stuff like that--it smacks of self-promotion and I'm not much into that, but...
I'm sorry but I got confused about the Indiana shows. Mike's October 14 Roadshow is at
Home Lumber of New Haven, Inc.
2101 Lincoln Highway East
New Haven, IN 46774
I got confused because he's also doing a show on November 18 for Huber Wood Products, installing Advantech flooring and Zip System WRB sheathing at
Big C Lumber
Hilton Garden Inn South Bend
Gillespie Conference & Event Center
53995 Indiana S.R. 933
South Bend, IN 46637
Sorry for the confusion!!!
And I'll see you other guys in Lincoln and Louisville.
Don't be shy! Come up and introduce yourselves!

Re: Midwest Roadshows
Be careful guys, Gary made me cope some crown in front of the group and then tell them all that was my first time. Then ask me why my face was so red :-)
you've been warned.

Re: Midwest Roadshows
Gary and Kreg,
You guys are gods!! I enjoy your posts and Gary, your book is super! Maybe you can help me with this self promotion issue, since I tend to be shy about marketing and you both have done the drill. I have been thinking about trying my local lumberyard as an outlet for a presentation on my woodturning abilities; you know, setting up a booth like you guys and making shavings. Might feel a bit wierd wearing that wireless microphone though (ha). Work is slow around here now and I should be doing more to get public. Any cogent tips about starting small and local in this manner? I don't mean to sidetrack the thread so i apologize in advance.

Re: Midwest Roadshows
Why not check it out with the lumberyard? All they could say is no. I do woodworking but not lathe work and have always been amazed at how you guys can do some of that stuff. One thing I would suggest as an aside is figure out how to make some small item quickly. Many of us feel we cannot stand around for an hour while you make a porch post but would stay 10 minutes to see you turn out a chair rung or a rail. Then have some of your other stuff sitting around for show and tell. Maybe have one or two really far out pieces to show the far limits as well as some of the more everyday items.
On a side note, I am hoping to make the Remodeling show in Indianapolis in hopes of getting a fire lit under me. Seems that lately I have been sitting on my duff more than I should instead of looking at marketing.

Re: Midwest Roadshows
Saw...
Where in Montana? I was just up there for almost a month. Wow.
And, yes...it all begins with a first step. The first worst thing that happens is someone says NO. The second is that no one returns your phone call. That happens to me ALL THE TIME. If that's as bad as it gets...it's not like surgery...so keep going. Thinking about momentary pain is a distraction, like thinking about the mistake you just made while hanging a door--when the real issue is: What happened? Why? And what's the solution?

Gary,or should I call you Yoda? :}
I am in sothwest Montana the home of the largest superfund site! Thanks for your response oh master. I mean this praise seriously. I wish we could have done lunch or a beer when you visited the big sky state. I know some great fishing streams and some great mountains to visit. Thanks for your support. I just need to figure out how to work 25 hours a day. 12 hours on site and 13 hours attending to business.
