Default Infra red roof scans for the midwest market

Hi, I am posting this as market research, not as an advertisement. This is a service I am thinking of offering in the future, but need the input of my fellow contractors.

I am considering the idea of offering infra red roof scans to fellow roofers for partial midwest (Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana) area. Would this service be of interest to anyone?

There's plenty of business for infrarred roof scans, if you are a qualified thermographer. You'll need to go to classes to learn the ins and outs of thermography, use of the camera (each one is very different), and building science. You'll also need to perform at least a few dozen of them before you start to learn anything about what you're seeing.

Roof scans are weather dependent. You can't do them if it's raining or if the roof is covered with water or snow. So in the midwest, they might not take the place of doing roofing work over the winter.

Last but not least, you'll need to like working at night. Roof scans have to be done after dark.
