What material for 2ft-wide soffit and facia ?

    What material for 2ft-wide soffit and facia ?

    Will need to be paintable and look (at least remotely) as wood.

    Was planning to use Miratec for both soffit and facia but they only make a maximum of 16" wide material.

    Should I just go with pre-primed cedar for soffit and Miratec for fascia ?

    For the soffit just use 3/8 or 1/2 rough faced T1-11 / plywood as shown in the photo...

    FYI - I did not do the siding on this one - only added the soffit and fascia.

      t&g pine or cedar run it the long way,incorporate a vent strip or 2

        Hardie makes soffit in 24" widths I believe. You can also use 4x10 sheets and just rip them down the middle.

          I've made up panels of 2 rips of 3/8" Cedar ply, with dark brown 2" wide continuous vent strip. Just attach the panels to each other via 2x4 blocks laid flat--make sure you lay them out so as to miss the rafters--and make up 8' long sections. You can pre-paint them, then nail up with SS trim nails with the 7/32"(I believe) head. You can even let the leading (outer-most) edge hang proud of the sub-fascia, then route a dado in your finished fascia, which the soffit panel fits into.
