Cannot wait for the election to be over?
Anyone else getting tired of all the election related stuff going on out there and here? While I continue to read some of it here and other places I will be glad when it is over.
Really, some of you guys are not playing nice at all. I started reading hoping to learn a few more things than ways to call each other names and such.
Makes me wonder what it will be like around here when it is over.

Re: Cannot wait for the election to be over?
Mark - my ballot is sitting here - will send it in a few days.
Yeah the election will soon be over and none too soon. I think things will settle a bit until the first scandal hits... :)
I hope to not fall into the 'not nice' category but I am sure I cross that line sometimes. We're only human...“Racism is man's gravest threat to man - the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason.”

I can't wait either. just wait for the last few days before the election we will be bombarded with ad and bull crap.
once it is over then life goes on.
and beezo... life around here will not change because then we will have to talk about the winner and losers.

Re: Cannot wait for the election to be over?
Al and Dave, you both mentioned having voted or being able to vote before the November elections. It seems that I am hearing that a lot this year. I am not sure that I quite understand the process and reasoning. I could understand Dave up in the bush (I am guessing that is where you live and the reason for it).And I thought I used to hear about absentee and military folks voting early. Just not sure about the average person doing it.
When do the early votes get counted? Do they wait until the same day as the rest of the votes? And how many early voters are there? And is this going to be a trend to have early votes from now on?
I have never really heard about it as much as we seem to be hearing about it now.
Kreg, I have missed your jokes lately because I would even prefer to read some of them as some of the political threads....Must be getting desperate.

Re: Cannot wait for the election to be over?
Vote-by-mail, Mark. I've voted four times already. I'M KIDDING...Mr Voter Fraud Inspector Man. Geez. I've only voted twice. :p
I believe the mail-in votes are actually counted on Election Day, but they must be received by then. If you vote democrat, they just need to be postmarked by Election Day. ;)Richie Poor...until the next presidential election cycle...

Re: Cannot wait for the election to be over?
I've just about got my mind made up. I'll be early voting next week. I'm waiting to see who the local paper endorses this Sunday for US Senate, Eliz Dole or Kay Hagen a many term state senator. I pretty much have my mind up there too.
What a privilege to be able to participate in such an event. My grandparents came to America at the beginning of the twentieth with the clothes on their back, lived in a grass hut, dirt floor (like in dust bowl days)in the old country there was none of this there.
I remember a news story during the VN War how Ho Chi Minh, Chairman Mao couldn't believe the US was really having an election, 1968 / 72 during such a crisis. It was said they were up at night pacing the floor not being able to comprehend that the next morning they would (or could) be dealing with a new US President.Last edited by Happy Home; 10-24-2008 at 07:59 AM.

Re: Cannot wait for the election to be over?
For those like me who vote by mail, remember that you MUST sign and date the envelope on the back, where indicated, if not your vote is not valid.
The envelope must be postmarked by election day, at the latest, late mail-in ballots won't count.
Don't write or draw anything on the ballots, just limit yourself to fill in the boxes or your ballots will be nullified.
Don't use a felt pen like I did, it bleeds to the other side, I hope my vote will be counted.
What a great thing to be able to vote by mail, I love it.
