Default Who is going to 2009 IBS in VEGAS????

I know its still early yet....like 4 months off...but if you don't start planning now you might miss it. This will be my 3rd year going and its worth it every year. Vegas is always easy for me...just a quick road trip. We did end up in orlando last year and it was awesome even though attendance was down a lot by both spectators and vendors.

We helped start a new local hba here last year and were recognized officially last year so that was cool. We also went to a LOT of classes....that really makes it worth while.

Anyway....who is going to be there??? I'm planning on the whole week. I will actually probably be there a few days early. I think I have a few meetings before it starts officially and I know my wife does. She is our local Executive Officer.

    Sam:

Forget the IBS, the action is going to be in Minneapolis in the ICC Final Action Hearings next week.

The sprinkler and plastics industry is spending millions to buy votes to make fire sprinklers mandatory in all residential structures. They are about as corrupt as any organization can get, they are getting their fire people registered as voting delegates, paying their expenses, wining and dining them and anything else.
    Lively Debate Expected in Minneapolis

Code Council voting members will consider more than 2‚600 code change proposals during the Final Action Hearings in Minneapolis‚ including measures that address residential fire sprinklers and improved energy efficiency.

Residential fire sprinklers and improved energy efficiency are two of more than 770 code change proposals expected to draw lively debate during the Code Council’s 2008 Annual Conference and Final Action Hearings in Minneapolis.

The Final Action Hearings‚ scheduled for September 17-23‚ will result in the 2009 International Codes‚ and give all attendees the opportunity to voice their opinions about proposed code changes by fostering full and open participation in the Code Council’s governmental process.
I don't understand the differences between 770 and "more than 2600" code changes, but you can bet half of them are different ways of getting sprinklers approved. They keep trying and getting shot down, they just keep coming back on the basis that with enough money they will eventually prevail. There are billions of dollars at stake here for the fire sprinkler and plastic pipe industries, and they have been proven to stop at nothing to get their crap mandated. This is it, if they get approval in Minneapolis they are in the 2009 code.

Anybody have any friends in the FBI who can look into this?

Hmmmm....yes.....because the FBI has nothing more important to worry about than the great "let's make sprinkler systems mandatory in homes" conspiracy...........................

    hahaha@ Bob.

I'd attend if it was in florida this year. Vegas is to far and to there's to much trouble for guy like me to get into. I doubt I'd spend much time at the show. ;)

Come on....I went all the way to florida last year....its only fair. Vegas is just a 4 hour drive for me. And the stuff at the show closes down early enough each day to make sure you have time to have some fun and get into trouble. If its anyones first time attending.....it only costs ya $100.00!!!!!

I might actually go, didn't know it was in LV until you posted this. Sure do hate the town, but apparently the show is well worth it.

It is absolutely worth it. I've been attending since 1980 and the things I've learned over the years from the hundreds of seminars attended, the new products I've seen, the dozens of books I've bought, and talking to other contractors have probably had the biggest impact on my career than just about anything else.

I've been patiently waiting for the show to get back to Vegas. I should save on hotel costs and just pick up a REO for all the time I spend in that town... Oct for a RE workshop, Jan for the IBS, March for a wedding... no! not mine. lol

Maybe we should all rendevous at the Softplan booth, or something.
It is a simple matter of being patient. I do patience very well, except for the waiting part. That's the one aspect of patience that still bites me.

I'm not saying I'm Superman. What I'm saying is no one has ever seen me and Superman in the same room together.

I will be there, this will be my 7th year and there is nothing like it to re-charge my batteries. The show floor is great but I get the most out of the speakers.

Looking forward to Vegas after these last few years in Orlando.
