Montana tool
I was surfing the net and came across this site. I've never heard of them before. Has anyone ever used their stuff?

Re: Montana tool
Looks exactly like the same shlt you can buy at HD that breaks the minute you use it. They even say they MAKE the shlt at HD.
It's just rebranded under yet another brand name.
I have four or five of those quick flip countersink jobbers. The drill bits always snap off or the holder bends if the drill tips over. Doesn't matter what brand is silkscreened on the side.Your source for:

Re: Montana tool
Yeah, those flip drivers are nice but could be made a little sturdier. I've got several that stripped out while trying to get the setscrews tight enough to use on the countersink side.
I have a set w/ the flip vix bits that I love but could also have been made much sturdier.
That "sleeved" apex is about useless, unless for some doofy reason you need to run in a 3" flat head screw, lol.
On a similar subject, does anyone know where to get the little clips that go in the end of an apex bit holder? I have some old, solid American made ones that somehow became sans clips and if a driver bit won't stay in the end of the damn thing, it doesn't matter who made it or where : )"I'll bend over backwards to help anybody, but I ain't bending over forwards for nobody"

Paul,
Try the "Scientific and Industrial" section on Amazon for those clips. They got everything, but might take a while to find them, 'cause they got so much stuff.
BTW - I've had the same flip driver I've had for the last 12 years. Used the crap out of it and I think I've only broken one bit the entire time.Last edited by Toolwhore; 07-22-2008 at 10:31 PM.

Re: Montana tool
I avoid using the flip bits, for the most part. They tend to make me angry, so I just set up two or three drives, one for the drill bit, one for the counter sink bit, and one for the driver. Saves me a lot of anger management problems. I will use a set I purchased at Rockler for quick jobs.

Re: Montana tool
The plug cutters work great! The 1/2 actually just works for using Timberlocks for interior/exterior beams. You can still get a 5/16 nut driver into the 1/2'' hole if drilled straight. Great solution for not needing a drill press on site or trip back to the shop.
I agree about the flip drivers, cant stand them.
